Roselle V. Fairchild's Obituary
Roselle V. Fairchild, age 92 of Batesville, died Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born January 16, 1920 in South Bend, Indiana, she is the daughter of Rose (Nee: Papai) and Harry Fritz. She married Frank Fairchild August 12, 1939 in South Bend, Indiana and he preceded her in death February 3, 2005. Roselle spent many years collecting dolls and amassed quite an impressive collection that she was extremely proud of and certainly was her pride and joy. She had several other interests as well. One that made her family chuckle was her devotion to her soap operas. Weekday afternoons were spent watching the block of soaps that CBS aired. She also liked to go shopping and while not necessarily his favorite thing to do; Frank would take her since she didn’t drive. In addition to not driving, another interesting side note, to her family’s knowledge, she never wrote a check in her lifetime, something rare, especially in this day and age. Chicken wings were a huge favorite. She looked forward to going with Ken to Eagles club for them. She had a fondness for little dogs, especially dachshunds. Among her favorites were Tiny the terrier, Benji the unintentional labridoodle and Daisy the dachshund. She would also fiddle around in the flower garden now and then; help with watering or dead heading, although in recent years dead heading sometimes meant the whole plant. Shy by nature, her family was important to her. Roselle was very close to her sisters and loved having her children and grandchildren around. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws Ken and Chris Fairchild of Batesville, Don and Jane Fairchild of San Antonio, Texas, Tom Fairchild of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters Theresa Malling of South Bend, Indiana, Mary Ellen McCartney of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Bernice Hardig of Schererville, Indiana; grandchildren Dana, Ryan, Lauren and Matt Fairchild, Angie Lozano and great grandchildren Brayden and Brienna Fairchild, Avery Lozano and Lilly Sheehy. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by brothers Harry and Leo Fritz.Visitation is Wednesday, November 28th, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Randy Summers officiating, followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research.
