Samuel D. Schoetmer's Obituary
Samuel D. Schoetmer, age 22 of Oldenburg, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Born March 29, 1990 in Batesville, he is the son of Terri (Nee: Fields) Baker and Dwayne Schoetmer. Sam was studying journalism and worked part time as a cook at Ertel’s Winery. A journalism major, his family said his dream job would have been a writer and illustrator for Rolling Stone Magazine. He was very creative and loved to doodle. He was an avid reader of fiction, enjoyed cooking and like classic rock and roll with Led Zeppelin among his favorite groups. His family teased him about his taste in television with “Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Family Guy” among programs he watched regularly. His sisters explained he was very witty, but also could have a sharp tongue when he wanted too. Other interests that he dabbled in at times were playing guitar, soccer and skateboarding.He is survived by his father Dwayne Schoetmer of Oldenburg; mother and stepfather Terri and Mike Baker of Oldenburg; sisters Kate and Annie Schoetmer of Oldenburg; grandmother JoAnn Schoetmer of Oldenburg, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3rd, from 9 a.m. until noon at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to family.
