Eugene Porter (Gene) Of 7 Eighth St., St. Augustine, Fl 32080
Sister Georganne, as we knew her, was very dear to me and my family. We met during my wife's coronary bypass surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital many years ago. She was indeed our guardian angel at that time, and we were so impressed with her loving care for perfect strangers that we determined, if possible, to keep in touch with her afterward. She made that possible, and we were blessed with many visits from her to our homes, both here and in North Carolina. As it evolved, she graciously agreed to conduct my wife's memorial service held in 2003 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church here at St. Augustine Beach. I was fortunate enough to be able to continue my relationship with Georganne following my wife's death, again enjoying many memorable visits from her through the years. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting any of her family, I almost feel as though I know her great nephew, Andy Pester, by means of two CD's of his organ recitals which Georganne sent to me, as well as several discussions which we had concerning his great talent. My remaining family and I shall miss Corrine greatly, though I must confess that we found it difficult to switch to her "new" name. For us, she shall forever remain Sister Georganne, loved, respected and thankful for the many peace filled hours we spent with her.
