Sr. Marie Celine Wilhelm, age 93 of the Srs. of St. Francis Convent in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born July 18, 1916 in Brookville, Indiana, she is the daughter of Johanna (Nee: Stenger) and Peter Wilhelm.She entered the convent on September 8, 1932 and made her final vows July 2, 1938. Sr. Marie Celine was a teacher and principal. Schools included St. Leo’s and Sacred Heart in Cincinnati, Ohio; St. Mary’s in Middletown, Ohio; Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Ohio; St. Peter’s in Hamilton, Ohio; St. Louis in Owensville, Ohio; St. Louis in Batesville, Indiana; Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Lawrence in Indianapolis, Indiana and St. Joseph’s in Princeton, Indiana. Sr. Marie Celine spent 55 years in education before returning to the Motherhouse in 1990. At the Motherhouse, she worked in the Communications Office for several years before retiring.She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Ottilia Burwinkel, Elizabeth Rosfeld, Veronica Rape and brothers John, George and Eugene Wilhelm. Visitation is Friday, July 24th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m., with burial in the convent cemetery.
