Sr. Miriam Clare Heskamp O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Miriam Clare Heskamp, age 85 of the Srs. of St. Francis Convent in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the convent. Born November 17, 1922 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is the daughter of Clara (Nee: Kruessel) and Joseph Heskamp. Sr. Miriam Clare entered the convent January 19, 1941 and made her final vows August 12, 1946. She served as Professor of Home Economics from 1947 – 1974 at Marian College in Indianapolis. From 1974 – 1982 she lead the convent as its’ Superior General. Then from 1983 to 1999 she served as Director of Mature Living seminars, Elderhostel and Spiritual Director of Marian College. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1999.She is survived by her brother, Rev. Charles Heskamp S.V.D., of East Troy, Wisconsin, as well as numerous cousins. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Marcella Heskamp; brother Rev. Joseph Heskamp; aunt Sr. Charlene Kruessel O.S.F. and cousin Sr. Marie Helene Kruessel O.S.F. Visitation is Monday, July 21st, from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 7 p.m. and burial will be in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis Convent, P.O. Box 100, Oldenburg, IN, 47036.
