Sr. Mary Claver Ehren O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Mary Claver Ehren, age 83 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Born August 9, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri, she is the daughter of Cecelia (Nee: Groner) and Michael Ehren.She entered the convent July 29, 1944 and made her final vows August 12, 1950. Sr. Mary Claver taught at St. Vincent’s in Bedford, Indiana, St. Joseph’s in Princeton, Indiana, the orphanage in Vincennes, Indiana and St. Clements in the Cincinnati area. She also served as retreat director at the House of Prayer in Cincinnati. In Montana at St. Xavier, Blessed Sacrament, Lame Deer, St. Labre and Ashland, she taught and served as Pastoral Minister. Sr. Mary Claver was one of the four founding sisters to open the Oldenburg Franciscan Ministry in Papua, New Guinea. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1991.She is survived by sisters Margie Clarke of Hazelwood, Missouri, Mildred Brewer of Cuba, Missouri, Cecelia Browning of Peoria, Arizona, Evelyn Mar of Cuba, Missouri, Frances Wilkerson of Rolla, Missouri, Joann Glaser of Cuba, Missouri, Loretta Jakubiec of Royal Oak, Michigan; brothers Donald of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Michael of San Diego, California and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Barbara Steinman, Delores Ehren and Eleanor Patrick. Visitation is Tuesday, October 19th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev.
