Sr. Yvonne Conrad, O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Yvonne Conrad, age 78 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Friday, May 25, 2012 at the convent. Born May 19, 1934 in Hamilton, Ohio, she is the daughter of Anna (Nee: Staarmann) and Louis Conrad.She entered the convent September 8, 1954 and made her final vows August 12, 1960. Graduating with distinction from the nursing program at Good Samaritan Hospital at Cincinnati in 1960, she became the head nurse at the convent infirmary. In 1972 she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and was appointed Director of the infirmary and became a member of the coordinating team until 1985. In 1986 a career change led her to pursue her Master of Professional Studies degree at Loyola University and eventually became Pastoral Minister at Queen of All Saints Church in Beattyville, Kentucky. She would later serve as Director of Education and Pastoral Minister at St. Maurice Church in Greensburg, Indiana, St. Ann’s Church in Hamburg, Indiana, St. John’s Church in Enochsburg, Indiana and Administrative Assistant at St. Simon the Apostle Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. She retired the Motherhouse in 2007.She is survived by her sister Loraine Snodgrass of Fairfield, Ohio; brother Celestine Conrad of Fairfield Ohio as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Evelyn Miller, Alberta Groh and brothers Arnold and Stanley Conrad. Visitation is Tuesday, May 29th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating.
