Sr. Therese de Lourdes Galm's Obituary
Sr. Therese de Lourdes Galm, age 99 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Friday, April 27, 2012, at the convent. Born May 5, 1912 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she is the daughter of Katherine (Nee: Gulde) and Edward Galm.She entered the convent July 13, 1932 and made her final vows January 6, 1938. A teacher and principal, she taught at Holy Family School in Oldenburg, St. Peter’s in New Richmond, Indiana and Little Flower in Indianapolis. Her last 55 years in education she served as principal at Our Lady of Angels High School in Cincinnati, Scecina High School in Indianapolis and Oldenburg Academy in Oldenburg. After retiring from education, she returned to Oldenburg to serve as motherhouse minister and assist with pastoral care before taking full retirement in 2001.She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Rushton, Ruth Bonifas, Helen Kuntz and brother Edward Galm. Visitation is Tuesday, May 1st, from 1-3 p.m. at the motherhouse chapel in Oldenburg followed by services at 3 p.m. and burial in the convent cemetery. Rev. John Geis will officiate.
