Sr. Susan Eifert, O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Susan Eifert, age 77 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at the convent. Born March 11, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, she is the daughter of Coletta (Nee: Reinhard) and Otto Eifert.She entered the convent September 8, 1954 and made her final vows August 11, 1960. A teacher and principal for nearly twenty years, she taught at Carroll High School in Dayton, Ohio and St. Christopher’s, St. Lawrence, Holy Trinity, St. Michael’s and Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1975 she began a two year term as Formation Directress for the convent. In 1978 she took hospital ministry training at St. Louis University and then spent the next twenty years as Chaplain for Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Good Samaritan Hospital of Dayton and Hospice of Dayton. In 1997 she retired to the motherhouse.She is survived by her sisters Dolores Weber and Thelma Westbeld, both of Dayton, Ohio, Dorothy Eifert of Centerville, Ohio, Norma Salmon of Charden, Ohio and brothers Paul, Melvin and Dr. Earl Eifert, all of Dayton, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sister Rosena Mauch and brothers Carl and Ernst Eifert. Visitation is Monday, July 18th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral Services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating and burial in the convent cemetery.
