Sr. Francis Ellen Hannigan, O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Francis Ellen Hannigan, age 86 of the Srs. of St. Francis Convent in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the convent. Born July 10, 1922 in Indianapolis, she is the daughter of Mary (Nee: Cooper) and Edward Hannigan.Sr. Francis Ellen entered the convent September 8, 1940 and made her final vows August 12, 1946. She taught at Little Flower, Scecina, St. Mary’s Academy and Ritter High School in Indianapolis; Immaculate Conception Academy in Oldenburg; Holy Cross in St. Louis, Missouri and St. Pius and Our Lady of Angels in Cincinnati. She retired to the Motherhouse in 2000 where she served the Parish and Hospital Ministries. She is survived by her sister Rosemary Hudson of Jupiter, Florida; brother Raymond Hannigan of Indianapolis as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Susan and Mary Ellen and brothers Edward, Rev. James, Joseph and Francis.Visitation is Thursday, July 17th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the convent cemetery.
