Sr. Loretta Feeney's Obituary
Sr. Loretta Feeney O.S.F., age 91 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at the convent. Born June 12, 1918 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she is the daughter of Mary Ellen (Nee: Kinney) and Martin Feeney.She entered the convent September 8, 1935 and made her final vows July 2, 1941. Sr. Loretta was a teacher and principal from 1938 to 1987. She taught at St. Anthony’s in Evansville, Indiana, St. Mary’s in Greensburg, Indiana, Little Flower in Indianapolis, Indiana, Holy Name in Beech Grove, Indiana, Oldenburg Academy in Oldenburg, Indiana, St. Anthony’s in Dayton, Ohio, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Cincinnati, Ohio, St. James in White Oak, Ohio, St. Aloysius in Bridgetown, Ohio and Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Ohio. She returned to the Motherhouse in 1987 serving as clerical assistant in the Deanery Resource Center until 1997 when she retired.Sr. Loretta is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Mary Kernel and brothers Thomas, Joseph, Francis and Lawrence Feeney. Visitation is Thursday, March 25th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating.
