Sr. Betty Gittins O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Betty Gittins, age 83 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Born January 7, 1927 in Newark, Ohio, she is the daughter of Cleola (Nee: Williams) and John McPeek. She entered the convent January 28, 1989 and made her final vows June 10, 1995. From 1991 to 1994 she served as Advocate Coordinator for the Indianapolis Metro Advocate Ministry and also served at Holy Cross Parish from 1994 to 1996 before retiring to the Motherhouse.She is survived her sister Mary Etta Kiefer of St. Albans, West Virginia as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she also preceded in death by her brother Gwynn McPeek. Visitation is Wednesday, September 22nd, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating and burial in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O.
