Sr. Mary Grace Plumbo's Obituary
Sr. Mary Grace Plumbo, age 77 of St. Louis, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at her residence. Born April 6, 1929, in Middletown, Ohio, she is the daughter of Rita and Sam Plumbo.Sr. Mary Grace entered the Srs. of St. Francis Community on September 8, 1947. She taught at grade schools in Indianapolis for several years before moving to St. Louis, where she taught for 46 years, the last 42 as third grade teacher of Our Lady of the Holy Cross. In addition to teaching, Sr. Mary Grace was the liturgical sacristan for many years. After retiring from teaching, she began a new ministry of outreach to the elderly and homebound of the parish.She is survived by brothers Joseph and Tony; brother-in-law Richard Klontz as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.Services for Sr. Mary Grace will be held in St. Louis and Oldenburg. In St. Louis, Visitation is Friday, March 23rd, from 2-8 p.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Cross Church. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24th, at church. In Oldenburg, visitation will be Tuesday, March 27th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m., with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O. Box 100, Oldenburg, IN, 47036.
