Sr. Marie Kathleen Maudlin O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Marie Kathleen Maudlin, age 89 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the convent. Born December 15, 1921 in Greensburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of Elizabeth (Nee: Hester) and Irvin Maudlin.She entered the convent September 8, 1940 and made her final vows August 12, 1946. A teacher and principal, she taught at St. Francis de Sales, Holy Trinity, Sceccina High School and Marian College in Indianapolis; St. Louis School in Batesville; Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Angels in Cincinnati, Ohio and John Carroll High School in Dayton, Ohio. In 1982 Sr. Marie Kathleen was elected as Congregational Minister for the Convent. After her four year term, she served as a Pastoral Associate in Hobbs, New Mexico. In 1994 she returned to the Motherhouse to manage the health insurance and Medicare office for the convent until retiring in 2010.She is survived by sister–in-laws Mary Jane Maudlin of Indianapolis and Yoshiko Maudlin of California as well as a niece and several nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by brothers Rev. Stanislaus O.S.B., Robert, Xavier (Edwin) and Joseph. Visitation is Wednesday, July 20th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Reidman officiating and burial in the convent cemetery.
