Sr. Consolata Kuhn, O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Consolata Kuhn, age 97 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at the convent. Born October 24, 1915 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is the daughter of Mary and Michael Kuhn.She entered the convent October 28, 1934 and made her final vows July 2, 1940. A teacher, she taught at St. Mary’s in Bloomington, Illinois; St. Joseph’s in Shelbyville and Oldenburg Academy in Indiana; St. Francis Seraph, Our Lady of Angel’s High School, Roger Bacon High School and St. Clement’s in Cincinnati, Ohio, Badin High School in Hamilton, Ohio, St. Peter’s in Chillicothe, Ohio and St. Monica’s in Kansas City, Missouri. Sr. Consolata had a calm nature and fun personality. Early in her teaching career, she taught elementary grades and later became a high school biology teacher. She loved nature and kept her students engaged by keeping the learning interesting and current. After retiring from teaching, she accepted a formation position assisting new members with their adjustment to community life in the convent. Her grace, kindness and gentle demeanor were well suited for this.She is survived by nieces Cheryl Popp of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dianne Chander of Troy, Michigan; nephew Robert Kuhn of Aptos, California; four great nieces; three great nephews; two great great nieces and two great great nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother Nicholas Kuhn and nephew Donald Kuhn. Visitation is Tuesday, March 5th, from 1-3 p.m. at the motherhouse chapel in Oldenburg followed by services at 3 p.m., officiated by Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M.
