Sr. Anna Marie Stier, O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Anna Marie Stier O.S.F., formerly Sr. Mary Prudence, age 100 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at the convent. Born July 2, 1910 in Greensburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of Olivia (Nee: Amrhein) and Stephen Stier.She entered the convent August 15, 1930 and made her final vows July 2, 1936. Sr. Anna Marie spent 55 years as a teacher and principal in Indiana at St. Lawrence in Lawrenceburg, St. Mark’s and St. Michael’s in Indianapolis; St. Catherine’s and St. Aloysius in Cincinnati, Ohio, Our Lady of Mercy in Dayton, Ohio; St. Catherine’s in St. Louis, Missouri and St. Francis in Portage des Sioux, Missouri. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1991. In April she celebrated a jubilee honoring her 80th year of religious life and then celebrated her 100th birthday in July.Sr. Anna Marie is survived by sisters Loretta Zoellner of Indianapolis, Margaret Feldman of Virginia and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by brother Francis Stier and sisters Christine Eder, Matilda Stier, Sr. Mary Catherine Stier O.S.F., Eleanor Peters, Sr. Olivia Marie Stier O.S.F. and Helen Hannigan.Visitation is Friday, September 3rd, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse chapel. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver officiating and burial in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O.
