Sr. Gerald Mary Gaynor O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Gerald Mary Gaynor, age 84 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Friday, April 19, 2013 at the convent. Born January 23, 1929 in Dover, Indiana, she is the daughter of Johanna (Nee: Fischer) and Louis Gaynor. She entered the convent September 8, 1946 and made her final vows August 12, 1952. Sr. Gerald was a special education teacher for 29 of her 39 years in teaching. Schools she taught at were Our Lady of Mercy in Dayton, Ohio; St. Mary’s Child Center in Indianapolis, Indiana and Holy Trinity Learning Center in St. Louis, Missouri. After teaching, she returned to the motherhouse to help in the infirmary.She is survived by her sister Dorothy James, brother Richard Gaynor, both of Guilford, Indiana, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Bertha Lipps and brother Bernard Gaynor. Visitation is Monday, April 22nd, from 1-3 p.m. at the motherhouse chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. and Rev. Jerry Welsh officiating.
