Sr. Kathleen McShay O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Kathleen McShay O.S.F., age 79 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the convent. Born May 9, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she is the daughter of Mildred (Nee: Sage) and Hubert McShay.
She entered the convent September 8, 1953 and made her final vows August 12, 1959. Sr. Kathleen worked 48 years as a teacher, Director of Religious Education, Home Health Care worker, Hospital Chaplain and a Pastoral Associate. Schools she taught at and parishes she assisted with include St. Mary's in Evansville, Indiana, Holy Family in Richmond, Indiana, St. Bernadette's, St. Mark's, St. Lawrence and Nativity Parish in Indianapolis, the Archdiocesan Office in Indianapolis, St. Peter's in Columbia City, Indiana, St. Michael's in Brookville, Indiana, Holy Guardian Angels in Cedar Grove, Indiana, St. Mary's in Middletown, Ohio, St. Bartholomew's in Cincinnati, Ohio, St. Mary's in Oxford, Ohio and St. Mary's in Warsaw, Missouri. The Community Hospital in Indianapolis, Richmond Hospital in Richmond, Indiana, Home Health Care in Franklin, Indiana and Margaret Mary Health in Batesville is where she served as Chaplain or in home health care.
She is survived by her sister Mary Ellen Barnes as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Pat Kegeris and brother William McShay. Visitation is Friday, June 6th, from 1 - 3 p.m. at the convent chapel. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Pat McCluskey O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the convent cemetery.
