Sr. Laetitia Meyer's Obituary
Sr. Laetitia Meyer O.S.F, age 97 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at the convent. Born November 5, 1911 in California, Ohio, she is the daughter of Agnes (Nee: Koehler) and Frank Meyer.She entered the convent on June 28, 1936 and made her final vows January 6, 1944. Sr. Laetitia was a teacher and principal. Schools included Holy Trinity, St. Mary’s Academy and Scecina High School in Indianapolis, Indiana; St. Mary’s in Evansville, Indiana; St. Catherine and St. Bernard in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fine Arts instruction at the High School level is where she excelled and many will remember her as the Art Department Director at Our Lady of Angels High School in the St. Bernard area of Cincinnati where she spent 22 years before returning to the Motherhouse in 1983. There she remained active as resident artist before retiring in 2004.Sr. Laetitia is survived by nephews Gery Meyer and Michael Meyer, both of Cincinnati, as well as several cousins. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Margaret Meyer, Sr. Frances Meyer O.L.V.M., and brother Frank Meyer.Visitation is Tuesday, July 7th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with burial in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O. Box 100, Oldenburg, Indiana, 47036.
