Sr. Estelle Nordmeyer, OSF's Obituary
Sr. Estelle Nordmeyer, age 99, a member of the Srs. of St. Francis Convent, died Saturday June 30, 2007 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana. Born March 4, 1908 in Latonia, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Anna K. (Nee: Ries) and John A. Nordmeyer.Sr. Estelle entered the convent on September 8, 1927 and made her final vows on July 2, 1933.Sr. Estelle was a Teacher and Principal, having taught at St. Clare School in College Hill, Ohio, Our Lady of Angels High School in St. Bernard, Ohio, Holy Family School and the Academy of the Immaculate Conception in Oldenburg, Indiana, St. Mary Academy and Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was Director of Postulants and Novices (St. Agnes Novitiate) for 18 years for the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg and in later years was the Director of Retirement Ministry and Craft Center at the Motherhouse.She is survived by her brother John Nordmeyer of Morris, Indiana; sister-in-law Catherine Nordmeyer of Batesville; niece Sr. Maury Nordmeyer, OSF of Oldenburg, as well as several more nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Esther Janson, Alberta Reuter, Alma Schneider, Helen Nordmeyer, Anna Mae Ertel and brother Robert Nordmeyer.Visitation is Tuesday, July 3rd, from 3-7 p.m. at the Srs. of St. Francis Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 7 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel. Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O. Box 100, Oldenburg, Indiana 47036-0100.
