Sr. Joannes Pardo, O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Joannes Pardo O.S.F., age 93 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the convent. Born November 30, 1916 in Richmond, Indiana, she is the daughter of Lucy (Nee: Armenia) and Andrew Pardo.She entered the convent July 7, 1932 and made her final vows July 2, 1938. Sr. Joannes served in domestic services at several convent locations during her career before returning to the Motherhouse in 1978 to become Director of Food Service until 1985. Dedication and a tireless work ethic were staples of each task she took on. In 1985 she semi-retired and provided pedicure services for the convent until retiring in 2008.Sr. Joannes is survived by sisters Frances Sowards of Tucson, Arizona and Bridget Culbertson of Richmond, Indiana, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sister Ann Marie Pardo and brothers Anthony, Angelo, Louis and Joseph Pardo. Visitation is Tuesday, June 15th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Robert Mazzola and Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating.
