Sr. Rosita Purler, O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Rosita Purler O.S.F., age 93 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the convent. Born December 18, 1916 in Old Monroe, Missouri, she is the daughter of Eugenia (Nee: Burkemper) and Henry Purler. She entered the convent June 10, 1931 and made her final vows July 2, 1938. Sr. Rosita was a teacher and principal for 56 years. She spent 16 years at St. Francis de Sales and six years at Little Flower in Indianapolis and seven years at St. Louis School in Batesville, Indiana. She also taught at Our Lady of Victory in Cincinnati, Ohio; St. Aloysius in Covington, Kentucky; St. Francis in Portage de Sioux, Missouri, Immaculate Conception in Old Monroe, Missouri, Our Lady in Festus, Missouri, Our Lady Queen of Peace in House Springs, Missouri and St. Pius V in St. Louis, Missouri. From 1974 to 1982 she served two terms as Assistant Reverend Mother for the convent after which she returned to teaching before retiring to the Motherhouse in 2004.Sr. Rosita is survived by sister-in-law Norma Burkemper of Lake St. Louis, Missouri as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded death by sisters Loretta Vogt, Esther Purler and brothers Alphonse and Cornelius Purler. Visitation is Friday, June 4th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. and Rev.
