Sr. Mary Rachel Schulte, O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Mary Rachel Schulte O.S.F., age 91 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the convent. Born July 20, 1917 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is the daughter of Mary (Nee: Berlier) and Joseph Schulte.She entered the convent December 28, 1937 and made her final vows August 12, 1943. Sr. Mary Rachel was teacher at St. Leo’s School in Cincinnati and in 1946 became Registrar at Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana. She served as Registrar until 1986 when became she became an assistant in the Dean’s Office. In 1993 she returned to the Motherhouse, assisting in the community archives office before retiring in 2004. Sr. Mary Rachel is survived by her sister Mary Dolores Schulte of Cincinnati; brother Joe Schulte of Okeana, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sisters Rose Marie Victor, Lucille Schulte, Angela Klensch and brother Urban Schulte.Visitation is Friday, June 19th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O. Box 100, Oldenburg, Indiana 47036
