Sr. Millie Speed, formerly Sr. Charles Helene, age 93 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the convent. Born June 15, 1924 in Cincinnati, she is the daughter of Helen (Nee: Lehmkuhl) and Charle Read Obituary
I taught with Sister Millie at Bishop Fenwick High School in Middletown, Ohio. She was totally dedicated to the school, its program of religious studies and especially the Kairos Retreat Program which she ran so successfully. I visited her two years ago in the infirmary at Oldenburg and had hoped to see her again this summer. Now she is one more Oldenburg Saint in heaven!

Sending condolences to the family and friends of Sister Millie, she was a very inspiration to the community of Tohatchi and Coyote Canyon, New Mexico. She left this community in 2005 and yet a lot of her teachings are still with us. We referred to her as our "Grandma Speed" as she would be driving over the speed limit in her white jeep. We miss her very much and loved her very much and may she rest in peace as she is called home.

I SAW THE OBITUARY OF SR. CHARLES HELENE IN THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR. I APPRECIATE THAT YOU SEND SUCH NOTICES TO THE STAR. SHE WAS MY 7th GRADE TEACHER AT ST. MARYS IN GREENSBURG. SHE WAS VERY SPECIAL AND A VERY DEDICATED AND INTERESTING NUN. SHE MADE SCHOOL A DELIGHT. SR. CHARLES HELENE ALONG WITH MY FIRST GRADE TEACHER SR. ROBERTEEN AND MY MARIAN COLLEGE CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR SR. MARY ROSE WERE MY BEST TEACHERS AND WERE ALL WARM AND FRIENDLY. I LOVE THEM ALL.
To the family Sr. Millie, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. As you cope with your loss, may you find comfort in knowing that God promises to put an end to all the things that have plagued mankind for centuries including death (Revelation 21:3,4).
