Sr. Jean Wolf O.S.F.'s Obituary
Sr. Jean Wolf O.S.F., age 89 of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Indiana, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at the convent. Born November 2, 1920 in Evansville, Indiana, she is the daughter of Mary (Nee: Wildeman) and Anton Wolf. She entered the convent September 8, 1944 and made her final vows August 12, 1950. Sr. Jean was a teacher and principal from 1946 to 1982. She taught at St. Joseph’s in St. Leon, Indiana, St. Wendel’s in Wadesville, Indiana, St. Agnes and St. Anthony’s in Evansville, Indiana, St. Joseph’s in Princeton, Indiana; St. Anthony’s in Streator, Illinois and Our Lady of Victory, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Pius and St. Aloysius in Cincinnati, Ohio. From 1982 to 2004 she served as Chaplain for St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. In 2004 she returned to the Motherhouse and served as chapel sacristan. Because of her love of flowers, in her spare time she enjoyed gardening.Sr. Jean is survived by sisters Isabelle Bittner of Haubstadt, Indiana, Estelle Schneider and brother Charles Wolf, both of Evansville as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Mildred Baumgart. Visitation is Monday, May 3rd, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O.
