Reflections: Class of 1965 50th Reunion --- Tom Egold When I reflect on Marian I thank God for the Oldenburg Franciscans and the priests of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis because they answered God’s call to the religious order and the priesthood. By answering God’s call they committed their time and talent to serve others and in our case serve us through Marian College. They are the true stewards of God’s many blessings. Abraham Lincoln is quoted as saying “I’m a Success today because I had a friend who believed in me” I can say I have enjoyed a good life because I had the Sisters of Oldenburg, the priests of the Archdiocese, and many friends whom I met at Marian who believed in me. Sister: Sister Adele (Karen) – She was a mentor, counselor and teacher who was always there for me no matter how much grief I caused her …. She “walked the talk” when it came to treating people with dignity. I am sure you have picked up the common thread of the above examples --- Stewardship & Dignity of the Individual …. My parents planted the seed of stewardship, Marian cultivated it and it took me a life time to understand it and appreciate it. Thanks to the Congregation of the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis for their vision that ultimately influenced our lives.
