Sylvia M. Prickel's Obituary
Sylvia M. Prickel of Red Lion, PA, formerly of Morris, IN, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in York, PA. She was the wife of the late John D. Prickel. Mrs. Prickel was born on February 4, 1930 in Morris, IN, the daughter of the late Theodore and Marie (Doll) Meer.
She was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Academy in Oldenburg, IN. She was a devout and faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Dallastown for over fifty years. She found great joy in cooking, gardening, and caring for her many friends and family members. She was also an avid traveler who cherished exploring new places and creating lasting memories along the way.
Sylvia is survived by her eleven children: Garry and his wife Roseann of Sanford, FL, Sr. Donna M. Prickel, OFM of Cincinnati, OH, Daniel T. Prickel and his wife Gina of Cincinnati, OH, Lois J. Grove and her husband Jeffrey of Loganville, PA, Jeffrey J. Prickel and his wife Elaine of Inver Grove, MN, Eric J. Prickel and his wife Darlene of Skaneateles, NY, James J. Prickel of Straw Plains, TN, John D. Prickel Jr. and his wife Monique of the Netherlands, Julia A. Dill and her husband David of York, PA, Martin J. Prickel of Corpus Cristi, TX and Angela M. Longnecker and her husband Mark of Red Lion, PA; 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; her brother Clifford Meer and his wife Jean of Morris, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 11th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main Street, Dallastown, PA, 17313. John W. Keffer Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting with local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main Street, Dallastown, PA, 17313.
A visitation will take place from 9:30-11:00am on Friday, April 17th, at Weigel Funeral Home, 151 W. George Street, Batesville, IN, 47006. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Morris, IN. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
