Teresa M. Drockelman's Obituary
Teresa M. Drockelman, age 97 of Batesville, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at her home. Born March 11, 1913 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Margaret (Nee: Grossman) and William Tekulve. She married Alvin Drockelman May 17, 1939 at St. Louis Church in Batesville. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1984. Teresa worked six years in the sewing department for Batesville Casket Company and as a seamstress at the Nobby Clothing Store before spending 20 years as a sales clerk for Gambles before retiring. She was a member of St. Louis Church and past president of the St. Louis PTA.A talented seamstress, Teresa had a long standing tradition of making felt sequined Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren as well as felt Christmas tree skirts. She continued to do this until 2005. Many will remember her helping set up the Country Store and making Raggedy Ann dolls for the church festival in addition to volunteering at Margaret Mary Hospital. She also had the talent and patience to hand make rosaries, creating thousands that were sent to missions locally and abroad. An avid card player, “500” and “Hand & Foot” were among her favorites when playing with friends and family. Teresa enjoyed fixing her dinner and eating in front of the T.V. In the 50’s & 60’s her favorite program as “The Hit Parade.” In the 70’s & 80’s it was Perry Mason and Matlock. More recently she preferred the Food Network and the Weather Channel. An excellent cook, her family fondly recalls her lemon cake, homemade goetta and a dish called frickadelle, which is a patty/meat loaf creation made with ground beef and sausage. Teresa enjoyed life and spent 93 of her 97 years in her home independently until needing some assistance the last year or so. Her greatest joy was having her house full with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Marge and Mark Danner, son William “Buck” Drockelman, all of Indianapolis; grandchildren Heather Drockelman, Robyn (Bryan) Werner, Kathryn (Scott) Barajas, Alexandra (Scott Nicholson) Danner, Ann (Damien) Tillis, Noah “Sam” Danner, Margaret Danner and great grandchildren Jackson Werner, Benjamin Werner, Colin Werner, Elyse Barajas, Graham Barajas, Kylee Danner, Gabrielle Tillis and Miranda Owen. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Christine Linville, Anna Dwenger, Rosina Gindling and brothers Frank and Anthony “Butch” Tekulve.Visitation is Friday, August 13th, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at Noon at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stephen Akange officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family request memorials to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research or the Alzheimer’s Association.
