Theresa C. Hornberger's Obituary
Theresa C. Hornberger, age 56 of Batesville, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born June 17, 1957 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Barbara (Nee: Selkirk) and John Oesterling Sr. She worked as an assembler at Hill-Rom Architectural 23 years and 10 years as a cook at Jawacdah Farm for Hillenbrand Industries. According to her son, Theresa found pleasure in tasks most of us consider chores. She loved to clean and cook. She not only kept her house immaculate, but her car as well. The statement was made “that you could eat off her floors and there was no doubt she kept her car the cleanest in town.” She also loved to cook. While her lasagna was a favorite of Brady’s, he said “No matter what she made, it was all good.” Naturally she enjoyed watching the Food Network and her sisters, good cooks in their right, would often call for cooking tips and advice. Her family also talked about her infectious laugh that would soon have everyone laughing just as hard. She used to read quite a bit and while she didn’t travel often, she liked to spend time at the beach. Even though it had been over a year since taking a trip to Put In Bay in Sandusky, Ohio, she was still talking about the great time she had. Theresa is survived by her son Brady Hornberger of Batesville; stepson Ryan Hornberger of Cincinnati; sisters and brother-in-laws Catherine and Greg Blanken of Oldenburg, Michelle and Sam Sitterding of Batesville, Amy and Joe Grimme of Charlotte, North Carolina, Ingrid Oesterling and significant other David Scripture of Greensburg; brother and sister-in-law Chris and Laura Oesterling of Oldenburg; step sister and brother-in-law Amy and Daryl Gunter of Batesville; step brother and sister-in-law Troy and Jenny Ilderton of Oldenburg; step mother Karen Oesterling of Batesville and friend Jim Hodges also of Batesville. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sister Donna Blanken and brother John Oesterling Jr. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon Wednesday, July 17th, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Batesville, followed by a memorial service at noon with Rev. Dave Johnston officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to assist with medical expenses or to the Batesville Food Pantry.
