Tom Habig's Obituary
Tom Habig, age 56 of Batesville, died Friday, September 28, 2012 at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born August 14, 1956 in Shelbyville, Indiana, he is the son of Florence (Nee: Barlow) and Frank Habig. He married Tracy Biltz August 21, 1996 in Hawaii and worked in sales and marketing. Tom and Tracy had started construction of a new home that Tom was very excited about, since it would make it easier for him to get around in, but unfortunately he did not get see its’ completion. Although his health in recent times kept him from being able to enjoy some of his favorite hobbies, he loved to golf and fish, read Tom Clancy novels, watch NCIS and for many years attended the Indianapolis 500. Tracy teased that “his favorite meal was anything she didn’t make since he was the cook in the family.” While his chili was exceptional, it was his lasagna that was their favorite and what they would request for the family Christmas. Tracy also teased about his tastes in cars which ran from one extreme to the other. He either liked them small and fast or the big, old boats of years gone by. When they were dating he had an old orange Lincoln that Tracy refused to ride in. His family all agreed Tom’s outgoing personality, humor and quick wit meant he knew no strangers. He is survived by his wife Tracy; daughters Desarae Habig of Shelbyville, Grace Habig of Batesville; sons Adrian of Shelbyville, Will of Batesville; sister Beverly McClory of Shelbyville; brother Jerry of Greenwood, Indiana; father-in-law Mike Biltz; mother-in-law Carol Schwegman, both of Batesville and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation is Wednesday, October 3rd, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4th at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. The family request memorials to the Holy Family Religious Education Fund or to Grace and Will's Education Fund.
