Virgil R. Hannebaum's Obituary
Virgil R. Hannebaum, age 97 of Metamora, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. Born March 24, 1911 in Franklin County Indiana, he is the son of Clara (Nee: Rifle) and Charles Hannebaum. He married Dorothy Zimmerman April 27, 1940 in Indianapolis and she preceded him in death on November 26, 1966.Virgil farmed all of his life and also drove a school bus for 12 years. He was a member of St. John Huntersville Church of Christ. In his younger years, Virgil enjoyed fishing and rabbit and squirrel hunting with his boys and his brother-in-law. In later years when his health wouldn’t allow him hunt or fish, he liked to take drives in the country with his sons.He is survived by daughter Martha Rose of Bowling Green, Kentucky; sons Charlie of Batesville, Philip of Morris, Tim of Metamora; sister Clara Rose of Indianapolis; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by daughter Rita Hannebaum; sisters Gertrude Becker, Alma Hannebaum and brother Carl Hannebaum.Visitation is Wednesday, July 16th, from 1-3 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral services follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Dave Johnston officiating. Burial will be in the Peppertown Cemetery. The family requests memorials to Batesville E.M.S. 10.
