Wanda J. Litzinger's Obituary
Wanda J. Litzinger, age 76 of Batesville, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at The Waters. Born August 9, 1938 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Margaret (Nee: Parsons) and Edward Tangman. She married Joseph Litzinger February 15, 1958 in Napoleon, Indiana and he preceded her in death April 21, 2013. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America).
Church was an important part of Wanda's Life. She helped with the church bulletins, the annual rummage sales, making laptop quilts and assisting with resident activities at The Waters. She also volunteered her time to assist at the food pantry. Other interests included following the Reds and she was an avid reader. She liked reading anything sports related and was a big fan of Nora Roberts' romance novels. Her family talked about Wanda's love for animals, especially dogs, and remember the large garden she would plant each year, canning the excess to enjoy over the winter months. An excellent cook, she was an even better baker. The pies and other sweets she made were hard to beat.
Wanda is survived by her daughters Jean (Matt) Schmidlapp of Milan, Indiana, Becky (Douglas) Goldsmith, Robin (Steve) Fuller, both of Greensburg, Indiana; son Dwayne (Mary) Litzinger of Sylvania, Alabama; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Shirley Smith.
Visitation is Friday, March 6th, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7th, at the funeral home with Rev. Jill Kepler-Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the St. Mark Cemetery Fund.
