William H. Kroner's Obituary
William H. Kroner, age 79 of New Alsace, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at his residence. Born March 8, 1935 in Dearborn County Indiana, he is the son of Zola (Nee: Greiner) and Harvey Kroner. He married Emma Dwenger September 3, 1966 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Hubbell's Corner where he was a life member. Bill farmed and owned his own company, Bill's Woodshed, doing woodworking and building custom cabinetry.
Woodworking was Bill's true passion. In addition to making a living doing what he loved, he produced heirloom quality doll houses, barns and toys for little ones that have been passed down several generations. Emma called him the sweetest man on earth who loved her cooking. She teased that she could have set a bowl of mud in front of him and if she made it, he'd eat it. Bill delighted in producing a large garden each year, as well as watching the RFD-TV channel, mowing grass, spending time in the woods and reading magazines about rural living and bird watching. He spent countless hours on the swing in the yard, often falling asleep and waking up in time to go to bed. All that time on the swing allowed him to keep up on comings and goings in the neighborhood and earned him the nickname "The Mayor of Ester Ridge."
He is survived by his wife Emma; sons Bryan of Magnolia, Arkansas, David and Mike of New Alsace; sister Marilyn Hammel of Circleville, Ohio and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Friday January 9th from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home and 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday January 10th at St. John's Lutheran Church at Hubbell's Corner. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Tom Frey officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Margaret Mary Health Hospice.
