William M. Linville's Obituary
William M. Linville, age 87 of Batesville, died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his home. Born February 26, 1922 in Batesville, he is the son of Christine (Nee: Tekulve) and Earl Linville. He married Qutia Griffin Kellerman May 15, 1954 at St. Louis Church in Batesville. He was a member of St. Louis and the Knights of Columbus #1461. Bill served in the Air Force during World War II before coming home to work in customer service with the Romweber Furniture Company for 40 years before retiring.Bill had a passion for animals and the outdoors. He loved dogs, cats, birds and more. When traveling, he enjoyed visiting state parks as well as exploring caves any opportunity he had. Some of his favorite programs included National Geographic, Outdoor Indiana, 60 Minutes and apparently in later years a liking for the soap opera “The Young and The Restless.” His family delighted in teasing him about this. They also mentioned “Dad pretty much liked anything on channel 12 – because he rarely changed the channel.” Bill also had a life long connection to music and his favorite instrument was the organ. He spent over 30 years as a member of the St. Louis Church Choir and counted musicals among his favorite movies. For all of his interests and hobbies though, time spent with family and especially the grandkids was his greatest joy.He is survived by his wife Qutia; daughters Donna Speckman and Brenda Henretty, both of Batesville; sons William and Robert, both of Batesville, Kenneth of Osgood; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister Charlotte Stahley.Visitation is Wednesday, December 9th, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stephen Akange officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites will be conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Margaret Mary or St. Louis School Tuition Angels.
