William F. Magee's Obituary
William F. Magee, age 56 of Hamburg, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at his home. Born September 22, 1956 in Rush Co. Indiana, he is the son of Wanda (Nee: Bunyard) and Frederick Magee. He married Jane Effing February 9, 1990 in Versailles, Indiana and she preceded him in death March 20, 2007. Bill was the account receivables manager for Batesville Casket Company before retiring. If you knew Bill, you knew what a character he was. A hulk of a man with a heart of gold, he took great pleasure picking at you and was always ready to match wits with you. He was a tinkerer at heart and spent countless hours in his shop. A skilled woodworker, he would make furniture, but preferred repairing antiques. A fan of the old westerns, he liked watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza in addition to being a bit of a movie buff. He loved his old Ford tractor and spending time outdoors. Some of his other hobbies include fishing and deer hunting. What he really enjoyed was to get into the truck and go for a ride……literally. The conversation would go something like this: “Hi Adam.” “Hi dad, what are you doing?” “I decided to take a ride.” “Where are you at?” “Oh, I’m in Virginia.”Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Adam and Susan Magee of Peppertown; fiancé Brenda Whitfield of Oldenburg; brothers Brent of Knightstown, Indiana, Bryan and Barry, both of Indianapolis, granddaughter Grace Marie and another grandbaby on the way. In addition to his wife Jane, he is also preceded in death by his parents.Visitation is Friday, October 26th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27th, at the funeral home with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Oldenburg. The family requests memorials to the Eagle Fire Department or Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research.
