William S. Munchel's Obituary
William S. Munchel, age 85 of Batesville, Indiana, died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at his residence. Born April 21, 1921 in Franklin Co. Indiana, he is the son of Theresa (Nee: Tebbe) and Aloysius Munchel. He married Janette Dierckman September 25, 1946 at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris, Indiana.Bill served in the Army during World War II. After the service, he worked at Steinkamps/Zieglers for 23 years, farmed for 15 years and also managed the Gibson Theater for 15 years. He was a member of Holy Family Church and the Batesville Knights of Columbus Council #1461.He is survived by his wife Janette; daughters Charlene Whittaker of Batesville, Elaine Nobbe of Greensburg, Indiana; sons Darrell of Franklin, Indiana, Vernon of Milroy, Indiana; sister Bernadetta “Bernie” Vonderheide of Rushville, Indiana; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters Thelma Koors, Viola Kramer and his brother Clarence.Visitation is Monday, March 26th, from 4-8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 27th, at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 and the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.
