Dennis L. Meister's Obituary
Dennis L. Meister, age 61 of Batesville, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Waters of Batesville. He is the son of Ada (Nee: Wirth) and John Meister. He was an industrial arts teacher at East Central High School for 37 years before retiring in 2010. His family spoke about Dennis’ love of his job and his passion for teaching. His other passion was steam engines. He enjoyed collecting them in addition to attending steam engine and power of the past shows. Other interests Dennis had included farming, watching the History Channel and his family said he found homemade cinnamon rolls irresistible. Dennis is survived by his mother Ada of Batesville; sisters and brother-in-law Joyce and Jim Westerman of Sunman, Susan Meister of Batesville; brothers and sister-in-laws John Meister of Batesville, Tony and Penny Meister of Greensburg, Daniel and Debbie Meister of Batesville as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his brother Donald “Pete” Meister. Visitation is Wednesday, July 18th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19th at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris with Rev. Pascal Nduka officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Pioneer Engineer’s Club of Indiana
