Karen A. Doyle's Obituary
Karen A. Doyle, age 53 of Batesville, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at her residence. Born January 12, 1956 in Iowa City, Iowa, she is the daughter of Heli (Nee: Koppel) and Berthold Goerlich. She married James Doyle January 16, 1993 in Batesville. Karen was a Registered Nurse at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville as well as an artist and restaurateur. She was a talented artist who liked working with watercolors to paint still life and animal scenes, so is not surprising she loved animals and was especially fond of horses and cats. Also a gourmet cook, she and her husband owned Cibo’s Bistro and shared their loved of fine food with others. Her children fondly remember her ribs and her husband’s favorite was her crab cakes. Karen had a flare for decorating and often was asked to help friends with remodeling projects. She and Jim enjoyed traveling and among her favorite trips were visits to Italy, Estonia, Paris and the Savoy Hotel in London. Her family will always remember her as a “beautiful, elegant women”, who valued spending time with her family.Karen is survived by her husband Jim; daughters Sydney McDonald-Doyle, Caitlin Doyle; sons Timothy and Patrick Doyle, all of Batesville; sister Ingrid Curry of Nashville, Tennessee and her father Berthold Goerlich of Elkins, West Virginia. Visitation is Saturday, May 9th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jon Porter officiating. Interment will be private. The family requests memorials to the Rural Alliance for the Arts.
