Louis R. Hoelker's Obituary
Louis R. Hoelker, age 93 of Batesville, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at The Waters of Batesville. Born September 9, 1914 in Oldenburg, Indiana, he is the son of Sophia (Nee: Piene) and William Hoelker. He married Bertha Grieshop July 10, 1943 at St. Louis Church in Batesville.Louie loved nature and enjoyed bird watching. He also like to read and was a local authority on Oldenburg History. He was a shipping agent and driver for Railway Express for 10 years, worked for 20 years at Hoelker’s Department Store and a driver for Batesville Casket Company 10 years before he retired. He was a member of St. Louis Church.He is survived by his wife Bertha; daughters Angie Raeon and Rita Hoelker, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters Verena Hoelker, Sr. Ann Cilla Hoelker, Cleophia Hoelker and brothers Florentine, Edward, Joseph and William Hoelker.Visitation is Tuesday, May 27th, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Fr. Gale Grieshop Scholarship Fund.
