Richard F. "Dick" Jaisle's Obituary
Richard F. "Dick" Jaisle, age 75 of Oldenburg, died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Born November 20, 1939 in Hamilton, Ohio, he is the son of Estella (Nee: Rolfes) and Frederick Jaisle. He married Rita Johnson September 5, 1964 at Harrison, Ohio. Richard served in the Navy from 1957 to 1961. After the service, he would spend the next 40 years as a chemist working in research and development for the James River Company, Formica and Sonoco Packaging. He was a member of Holy Family Church.
Richard truly enjoyed his family. He spent several years earning his Masters Degree working his way through night school while his family was young. After finishing his degree he was able to spend more time with the family which was important to him. Naturally when the grandchildren came along, he loved spending time with them and keeping up with their activities. His job required traveling and during the down time on the road, he would look for antique cookie and cracker tins of which he eventually amassed a sizeable collection. Over the years he would also compile an extensive history and photo collection of his mother's side of the family as well being a long time civil war buff and collector. One to always stay busy, he would put out a large garden every year, sometimes two, and would take care of the canning and freezing himself. For Richard, comfort food at its' best was also his favorites.........meat loaf and macaroni and cheese.
He is survived by his wife Rita; daughters Emily Voegele of North Canton, Ohio, Maria Keefe of Hinsdale, Illinois; sons Daniel of Plainfield, Indiana, Andrew of Batesville; sister Suzanne Barhorst of St. Peter's, Indiana; brother Dennis of Centerville, Ohio and eight grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Richard's wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday, October 2nd, at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3rd, at the Srs. of St. Francis Chapel in Oldenburg with Rev. Glenn O'Connor officiating. Interment of his ashes will follow in Holy Family Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion. There will be no calling at the funeral home on Saturday morning. The family requests memorials to the Southeastern Indiana YMCA or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
