Rita M. Enneking's Obituary
Rita M. Enneking, age 86 of Oldenburg, Indiana, died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at St. Andrew's Health Campus. Born in the kitchen of the family home on November 9, 1928 in Oldenburg, she is the daughter of Matilda (Nee: Scheele) and Leo Simmermeyer. She married Gilbert Enneking June 18, 1949 at Holy Family Church and he preceded her in death August 5, 2008. She was the secretary and bookkeeper for 30 years at Holy Family Church, retiring in 1999.
Rita enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, watching her birds and keeping up with her flowers. Her family described her as crafty, dabbling in craft making as well as crocheting. Rita liked going out to eat and in later years rekindled her passion for cards, playing Cut Throat Canasta and to the amusement of her children, took a liking to the Game Show Network. For all her interests though, her children and grandchildren were her passion and priority. She delighted in attending their activities and functions.
She is survived by daughters Jane Kramer of Oldenburg, Nancy Huey of Cincinnati, Ohio, Vicki Huffman of Sellersburg, Indiana; sons Leon of Oldenburg, Tom of Angola, Indiana; brother Louie Simmermeyer of Oldenburg; 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 9th, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A rosary service will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, April 10th, at Holy Family Church with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Holy Family Religious Education Fund or the Cemetery Fund.
