Sr. Mary Martin McHugh O.S.F's Obituary
Sr. Mary Martin McHugh, age 88 of the Srs. of St. Francis, died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the convent. Born February 8, 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is the daughter of Mary (Nee: Martin) and James McHugh.She entered the convent September 11, 1949 and made her final vows August 12, 1955. Sr. Mary Martin was an elementary teacher for 24 years at Little Flower School in Indianapolis, Indiana, St. Vincent’s Orphanage in Vincennes, Indiana, Our Lady of Mercy in Dayton, Ohio, Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Ohio and St. Clements in Cincinnati. In 1979 she studied Hospital Ministry and served as Chaplain at the Bethesda and Good Samaritan Hospitals in Cincinnati for 22 years after which she returned to the Motherhouse serving as Chaplain of St. Claire Hall before retiring in 2004.Sr. Mary Martin is survived by her sisters Catherine Denier, Ann Parker and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother James McHugh.Visitation is Monday, December 23rd, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Motherhouse in Oldenburg. Funeral services follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Humbert Moster O.F.M. officiating and burial in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Srs. of St. Francis, P.O.
